Not only did I get to tell Tytan's birth story, but also had the pleasure of documenting his newborn session right in his very own home. This is something new for Little Loo Photography and something I am so excited to have added this year.
I have had so many people ask my why I stopped photographing studio posed newborn sessions, and I will tell you-
I am still just as passionate about working with newborns and their families, but my focus has shifted away from studio and into the lives of families focusing on their connections and their lives together, and intentionally telling their stories.
This year with the addition of birth photography and video storytelling in both birth and family sessions, I just felt that being able to carry the story from birth into your home and into your relationships with one another just continued an incredibly beautiful story, and it just feels so much more complete. Voices of affirmation, those first cries, and seeing mannerisms unfold in video in your birth space just adds so much more depth and emotion to your story. Then to carry it even further into your home where you spend life together just weaves right into that theme.
Nikki and Prentyce had invested in a newborn photographer with big brother Nikko and really wanted images from this session that would flow with his, ones they could hang and display in the same spaces, and so we came up with a compromise. I brought along a few of my items and spent the first bit when I arrived capturing posted images of Tytan posed, and then moved into the family lifestyle session. I think they balanced really well and am so happy with how they turned out. I am so grateful for them trusting in me!
Here are some of my favorite images from their newborn session as well as a short little film I made of some of our moments together. Enjoy!
