In 2018 I will be transitioning away from studio sessions and into families homes, as this is where my passion lies! Newborn studio sessions and in-home newborn sessions are quite different! This guide will help you prepare for your newborn studio session as well as what to expect before, during, and after your session with Little Loo Photography.
A bit about me! I have been photographing newborns since 2011 and also work in the field of labor and delivery for the past 18 years, so am definitely all about everything newborn! I am passionate about documenting this stage in life. As a mother of four grown children, and two young grandchildren, I have learned just how fast this stage passes amidst the busyness of sleepless nights, adjusting to schedules, appointments, and all the changes that occur with the birth of your baby. There really is no time in your life like it, and I truly believe it is the greatest love we can experience. It changes everything!
I take only a select number of newborn clients a month so that I have cushion in my schedule to accommodate new families when they deliver, I also tend to book up months in advance, for this reason scheduling your session during your second trimester is suggested.
Once your newborn deposit is paid, I will pencil you in on your actual due date, and adjust forwards or backwards as needed once you delivery.
Newborn sessions are best when scheduled between day 5 an 14 of your newborn's life. During this stage they are nice and sleepy and very content in those cute swaddled and curled up poses, and settle much easier during your session. Newborn sessions after this stage are often shot in a more lifestyle and unposed approach.
-Included in this guide is a link for your deposit, questionnaire, and client contract. These are required for all sessions. Filling out your questionnaire with as much detail as you can really helps to ensure your session goes as smooth as possible and you end up with images that you love. I do spend time prepping for sessions so that the transition between set-ups moves along nice and smooth.
-Letting me know if you are bringing items along that you would like included ahead of time also helps. I do have a beautiful collection of clothes, wraps, props, hats, and hats. These are specially made just for newborn photography and are nice and snug fitting to show off your newborn's features. For this reason sticking to my clothing options are highly suggested.
-Newborn sessions are best when scheduled in the mornings. I have found over the years of photographing newborns and their families that this tends to be the most settled time of the day during this stage.
- My address is 5841 Fannine Way, Las Vegas, NV 89130
- When you arrive you will see covered parking on the garage side of the house. This is for you, park here and you will see the studio entrance right there. Feel free to come on in once you arrive.
-Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours. This allows time for feeding, changing, settling and transitioning your baby between set-ups.
-I typically begin with family images first as the studio is kept quite warm (80-82F) for your newborns comfort as we spend a lot of time wrapping and unwrapping your baby.
-I will be set up with your color scheme preferences.
-plan on bringing and extra set of clothes for family members as poop and pee does happen A LOT during sessions!
- There is a sitting area that is quite small for family, and the studio is kept warm and quiet during your session. For this reason it is suggested not to bring extended family or friends along.
-Bring along snacks, books, and any items you might like to keep you comfortable during your newborn's session.
-For families with small children- often times they do like to bring two cars so that siblings can leave and go home with dad or family members or to the park nearby.
-Be sure to pack plenty of diapers and formula if you are bottle-feeding. We do tend to feed often to keep your baby comfortable and settled.
-With in 2-3 weeks you will receive a link to your own private password protected link with your final edited images from your session.
-You can expect an average of 30 images from your session.
-You are able to download your full-size, full-resolution images right from your gallery.
-Your session also includes a 5x5 print of each edited image from your session as well as a custom USB. These take about a week to come in.
